Goldman Sachs...The King of NY Hacks...and has there been CHANGE ??

I wrote this following post in October 2008, and felt I should re-post it because I mentioned Goldman Sachs in it, and how they were despised then and NOW.

They may be responsible for some of the biggest heists in the last 25 years that we never saw in history, and surely we will never know.

Too much water has fallen and the grass is high enough to hide most of the snakes.

They will fry a few of the fat cat snakes who will be fed to the judges and the SEC, but overall the REAL people responsible will stay invisible I'm sure.

Goldman and Sachs should be held in the same regard as Bonnie and Clyde...outlaws, robbers and least Bonnie and Clyde were honest and told us what they were...outlaws, robbers and criminals.

Today the two of them, Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow sound like names you might find on the list of brokers and representatives for Goldman Sachs...perhaps maybe a good name of what they might get spun into if the government really goes after them and dismantles their den of thieves...Barrow and Parker Investments...sure, they can handle mortgages and lending. Just ask for Bonnie or Clyde to take care of you..HA !

I finished this post a couple of years ago by saying we will get through this, but the feeling I get from my clientele and the pulse of this city is we have been standing still.

I hope we are waking from this slumber, and those who have taken advantage of people in this country are held accountable, because they are the anchors that are keeping us... standing still.

Travis Bickle ....and The King Of New York Hacks.

I remember the first time I watched the movie Taxi Driver about the troubled Travis Bickle as he roamed the dirty New York City streets. The year was 1976,the Bicentennial celebration was happening which was quite memorable if you were in NYC. Those were the days where fireworks were so popular you couldn't see across the street at the end of the night waiting for the smoke to settle.

I remember fishing in the harbor off Staten Island watching the ships sail in from 200 years ago with the anticipation as if I were there the first time they arrived. I remember someone shooting their gun off under the Verrazano Bridge celebrating the stroke of midnight and the scary feeling of a ricochet that accompanied it.

Now, today as I reflect on those moments I think of Travis Bickle...Why? Because I AM a Taxi Driver. When I saw the movie, I never thought in a million years that one day I would be behind the wheel of this unique and adventurous employment.

Yet I am.

Although I do have a day job,and the acquaintances and colleagues that I encounter on a daily basis has led me to a comparison of sorts that are almost the dissection of a time capsule that I have dug up, and am relaying my find to you. As the election nears and the world is changing, I am curious to your thoughts...Please leave them in the comment section. These are troubled times, and having them in my rear view mirror is a very up close seat to view it all.

The following is a quote from Travis with an updated version of the quote by The King Of New York Hacks which he has been heard reciting in these current times.

Travis Bickle: All the animals come out at night - whores, skunk pussies, buggers, queens, fairies, dopers, junkies, sick, venal. Someday a real rain will come and wash all this scum off the streets. I go all over. I take people to the Bronx, Brooklyn, I take 'em to Harlem. I don't care. Don't make no difference to me. It does to some. Some won't even take spooks. Don't make no difference to me.

King Of New York Hacks: All the bankers come out at night - scumbags, analyst pussies, mortgage buggers, foreclosure queens, IPO fairies, CEO dopers, Bonus junkies, bankruptcy sick, Family venal. Someday a real rain will come and wash all this scum off the streets. I go all over. I take people to the Bronx, Brooklyn, I take 'em to Harlem. I don't care. Don't make no difference to me. It does to some. Some won't even take people who work at Goldman Sachs. Don't make no difference to me.

Well it does now.

Bear Stearn's, Lehman Brothers
Mortgage brokers, foreclosures

Bailouts and Christmas Bonus
Con artists with no onus

Why now for their fail
Because they can afford the bail

This filth can't be washed off our streets
we are at war and not peace

Will the people rise
against those we despise
There are two wars...over there...and HERE.

I know the King is tired of standing still...are you ??

I'll leave the closing from the original post... but know this much...

The King of New York Hacks is around in the darkness.

The King is everywhere, anywhere you can look from the lights of Times Square to the darkest alleys of downtown.

Wherever there's a fight so starving people can eat, The King will be there.

Wherever there's banker fleecing a working man or someone being taken advantage of...

The King will be there.

The King will be in the way people yell when they're pissed off.

The King will be in the way children laugh when they're starving and they know dinner is waiting.

And when the people are eating the food they raise, and living in the houses they build ... The King will be there.

...and I know all of you will be too...Just like Tom Joad in "The Grapes of Wrath".

We will get through this economic bullshit, but I hope my thoughts remain unscathed as I march on...and hope yours do as well. I am not not Travis Bickle, however I remain faithfully The King Of New York Hacks.

"We're the people that live. They can't wipe us out. They can't lick us. We'll go on forever, Pa, 'cause we're the people," ~ Ma Joad, The Grapes of Wrath

"In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage."
- John Steinbeck, The Grapes of Wrath, Chapter 25

Since we made it this far, I'm sure we will make it further along and with more progress the next time I touch on this subject...until then, read the Grapes of Wrath, the times have not changed much and that was written in 1939. I guess we have a lot MORE bullshit to go through... After all the writing I've done, and the little I've put on this blog I am STILL no John Steinbeck...but hopefully the words I write flow a little quicker than a crosstown bus in rush hour, as I remain with one hand on the wheel and the other embracing yours during these difficult times...awaiting OUR vintage...The King of New York Hacks. Peace out peepers.

  1. Lol at some won't even take ppls who work at Goldman sachs it's a shame what Goldman sachs has been doing for years, I wonder is it just false rumours in my part of the world that america cares for it's peoples n justice is served? It was a bit different once I arrived here

  2. It IS time to read "Wrath" again. Thanks for reminding me. And you're right, it is still valid today....Sadly.

  3. You are a very wise man, King!!!! And we all bow to you...

I can't even speak about the GS people...

  4. Perhaps Travis just needs to turn the gun on himself.

It would make for a better looking photo!

  5. All I can do is pray Goldman Sachs isn't just the beginning of the scams we'll be hearing about. Bastards.

Grapes of Wrath is my all time favorite read.

This is a terrific post King. Thanks for the repeat and the update.

    Safe travels.

  6. The BBC reported 1/21/10, that the average compensation for GS personnel was $500,000- it takes a lot of clerks and interns to arrive at a figure this low of course. Personaly, I get a charge out of taking credit cards in the cab. In Boston, our mandated system takes 6% off the gross of all credit transactions. When half the money taken in goes to cover the cab rental and gas, 6% off the gross is 12% off the income. The state taxes us 5.5% of our income- think of all they do. The credit card system takes 12%- think of all they do. I guess they really are too big to fail, but what a comfort in knowing that we're not.

  7. Wow, you should change your name from the KONYHS to Batman! lol On a serious tip, life is life.....IDK if it's getting better or worse, or if we are just stagnant these days. I lean towards the stagnant.....We've got so many problems facing us bro. So many more than any generation before us ever had......and so many more problems will present themselves for the next generation.....We live in a world filled with so much hate and deceit.....or maybe it's the main stream media that accentuates that more than the good left in this world..... We must get back to looking out for one another. Doing the right thing. And most of all being humble. Take care of yourself bro.

  8. the ppl at Goldman now have the balls to say it was ONE GUY'S fault. One guy brought this country to financial ruin and they were all just doing their jobs and had no clue. Give me a fucking break. they are criminals is right. Theives, robbers and should be jailed. Sadly, however, they will sit in their Park Ave. apts, counting OUR money and never see a day in prison

  9. All of the trading firms and investment banks are really the same: predators in nice suits.

  10. Ah King, we have to hang in there, even though it seems like nothing is changing...change is enevitable! Let's hope for the best...all we have is faith and each other brother!! :)

  11. I remember this post of yours from the first printing! That DeNiro photo did it.

I think each person should be accountable for his or her own heart and actions. I dearly wish we could make all the Big Boys be good, but obviously we can't. You jus tkeep doin' the great stuff you do, King!! Spread all the good and honest stuff you can -- it goes further out than you can ever imagine!!

And I'll do the same, okay??

  12. It's nice re-reading this, King! It's worth every word.^^

  13. Its shocking how they're blaming one person for the disaster they brought on this country!

  14. I keep hearing talking heads (on the right) say big business "might" need more regulations due to GS and other debacles.

And I heard Alan Greenspan say his one mistake was in assuming big business could regulate itself. Now, he is a very, very smart man. How could he be so naive? The answer is, he's not naive. So what are we left to assume?
