#KONYH Street Photography NYC 2012

Video of my Street Photography from 2012 to the tune Lascia ch'io piangia by Chloe... Hope it brings you a smile folks... Enjoy :)

So many memories good and bad in 2012, this short video was just a fraction of the poignant moments frozen in New York City this year...I may not be Martin Scorsese or Robert DeNiro...but I still have my hack license as I remain and report NYC to you in 2013...The King of New York Hacks.

Have a safe New Years, please don't drink and drive.

Peace out peeps. See ya next year :) ~ Edward #KONYH

  1. Beautiful song u put to your photos!..Brings back some sad memories... 2012 was not good for me.. Your sentiment of 'don't drink and drive'... wth drink? people don't know their limits... a drinkless toast still has the same impact -especially if its heartfelt.

  10. I'll make a blog post out of this comment, it's not in the blog, but should be.

I'm headed back downtown for more drunks to take home, we have 4-5" of very fresh snow on the ground, and coming toward me is a woman going the wrong way on the eastbound side of a divided boulevard. She's 6-8 blocks from home. What I do in such situations is go very slow and try to squeeze the other car into the curb, then I can get out and tell them what they're doing wrong, and if they're too intoxicated, help them park their car and give them a free ride home. She climbed the curb, and ticked my outside mirror as she went past, so I spun around and when she turned off Raymond rd., I cut her off into the first right, a cul-de-sac.

I went over to her car and told her she was too drunk to be driving, she was legally parked, and if she'd give me her keys and get in my cab, I'd give her a ride home for free. Then she could get her car tomorrow. A generous offer I think.

She said she couldn't do that. I told her she had no choice, because if she didn't accept my offer I'd have no choice but to call the police, and instead of going home in a taxi, she'd go to jail in a police car. Either way, that car wasn't going anyplace that night anymore. She said, "I can't do that." I said, "Lady you have to do it, or you're going to jail!" "I can't do that."

"Final chance, one last try, give me your keys and let me take you home for free, instead of going to jail." She again said she couldn't do that. Most cab drivers would not have done what I was doing, it was going to punch a one hour hole into the most profitable night of the year, but I HAD TO DO IT. It was the right thing to do, it was the responsible citizen thing to do.

When the cops got there, I told the guy she'd ticked my mirror, and he found a small smudge of her paint on the bottom of my mirror. She got so many tickets. Wrong way on a one way street. Drunk driving that resulted in an accident and leaving the scene of the accident. I'm not sure if that's 2 tickets or 4 tickets, but the consequences were HUGE.

Wouldn't the generous thing be to just let her drive that last 6 blocks home in blotto condition. I don't know she would have made it home alive, I don't know if she'd sideswipe 1/2 dozen cars going up Whitney Way, get lost, collapse in her garage with the motor running and die from carbon monoxide........ and so on.

I do know that if she'd given me her keys and let me take her home, I would have helped her to the door, and reminded her to lock her door from the porch or stoop.
